Genre- Comedy drama.
Characters we met so far-
Oliver (main boy character)- He's not a stereotypical boy, he has odd thoughts that seem rather detailed and as if it's an adult thinking not a 13(ish) year old boy, there is also something about him that makes him appear rather creepy and odd, but in these first few minutes I couldn't pinpoint it; Even though Oliver doesn't seem like a stereotypical boy there are some aspects about him that make hhim appear more 'normal' such as he just wants to fit in, you can tell this by the way he interacts with other characters and he also has a crush on a girl at school- Jordana.
Jordana- She seems rather mysterious from her facial expressions, and from what I remember the camera was either below or above her with the odd same height but only on close-ups.. She wears a red Duffel coat- the colour of this signifies danger or sex in general, but the actually Duffel coat signifies youth and innocence. It also reminded me of Little Red Riding Hood, so when it comes to the danger aspect it may be that Jordana is the one in danger not her being a danger to others.

Mood and atmosphere in the opening ten minutes- Tense yet natural and homely..
how is this created- The soundtrack is used at certain points in the film to highlight this as the type of music is rather eery, the setting that is used in the first section feels very natural and homely this is also emphasised by the camera work, the camera work done appears to be handheld and as a result adds a shaky effect to the film which I believe makes it more naturalistic and also adds to the intimacy between audience and the film as it almost seems as if you are there. I think that the 'shaky' camera effect reminds me of a documentary, adding to the suggestion that the film is from the main boy Oliver's perspective. There was also a few camera techniques that I picked up on and I thought really worked was: Extreme close ups- which I believe added to the tension as it cuts out the surroundings and focuses on the actors emotion which also made me feel closer to Oliver even in the first few minutes of the film. There was also some freeze frames which I thought enhanced the comical side of the film also adding tension and fear as you as an audience member are left wondering what is going to happen afterwards; Although I thought these freeze frames worked really well I think that they contradicted the naturalistic approach that I thought the director was going to take, but I think it worked well so was a good risk.

My first impression of the film- I have no idea what it is going to be about, I think it's one of those films where you have to watch to the end to understand it fully.
